THE GROUND IS LAVA

Brunswick, OH band The Ground Is Lava's legacy is that of a unique ability to face adversity with a smile. While they don't shy away from topics of heartache and unrequited love, their refusal to wallow in self-pity is apparent from their sophomore album's opening line: "I treasure the moments that we spend together; they make me believe that things could get better."

It's only fitting that Joe Reinhart and Peter Helmis of Algernon Cadwallader lent their voices to the band's 2013 album Bottle Rockets, as The Ground Is Lava was a clear descendant of Algernon Cadwallader's lineage and aligned with the ethos and collaborative, do-it-together spirit of the Philly legends. Produced, engineered, and mixed by Joe Reinhart and Matt Shenck at the historic Headroom Studios in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bottle Rockets stands as a lasting triumph of the genre and an indication of the evolving maturity of songwriting found at the tail end of the emo revival.

We are immensely excited to join The Ground Is Lava in celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Bottle Rockets with a reissue of this seminal work, providing context for a new generation of emo enthusiasts who may be hearing it for the first time.

Bottle Rockets is available now on cassette and CD via Really Rad Records.
